Home Manager

Geraldine BrowneThe Home Manager: Mrs Geraldine Browne has worked at Silverdale since the Home opened in 1991.  Geraldine is a Registered Nurse with a special interest in palliative care.  In 2013 Geraldine won the Royal College of Nursing (NI) ‘Nurse of the Year’ award – the first time this award has been won by a nurse in the Independent Sector. In 2010, she was awarded the Dementia Nurse of the Year by the Dementia Awareness Centre for her outstanding contribution to the care provided for patients suffering from Dementia.  Geraldine leads a team of Registered Nurses, Senior Care Assistants, Care Assistants, kitchen, domestic, laundry, administrative and maintenance staff.

In addition to highly-skilled Registered Nurses, the home has a team of experienced Care Assistants.  Staff at Silverdale have had training in Dementia Awareness and regular training in moving and handling procedures, fire awareness, infection control and other nursing related development programmes.  The Management at Silverdale ensures that all the nursing and support staff undertake relevant regular courses to ensure the deliverance of professional and effective care.
