Patients and families are at the heart of everything we do at Silverdale and they are actively involved in care planning and delivery. To encourage this, we have a six-monthly Patient Forum and six-monthly Relatives’ meeting to enable patients and relatives to contribute to and comment on, the daily operations of Silverdale.
At Silverdale, we also believe that food plays an important role in the comfort and general well-being of our residents and we pay particular attention to mealtimes and general hospitality throughout the day. Home-cooked meals are beautifully presented by a dedicated team of kitchen staff who work hard to provide varied, and nutritiously balanced, meals that meet the Department of Health guidelines and RQIA standards. There is a daily choice at mealtimes and fresh fruit and juices are available and served throughout the day. Next of kin and family members are welcome to join with patients for morning coffee, afternoon tea and meals by request.
Silverdale is a special nursing home with a G.P visiting Monday to Friday and the “out of hours” doctor on call visits as needs indicate. Regular visits are also made by other Allied Health Professionals including: the Community Psychiatric Nurse, Speech and Language Therapist, Dietician, Tissue Viability Specialist, Occupational Therapist, Podiatrist, the Consultant Psycho-geriatrician, Optometrist and Dentist. A hairdresser also visits the home weekly.
Silverdale is well known for supporting the local community and Charitable organizations its themed days and fund-raising events which happen regularly throughout the year. These events are popular within the local community and have enabled the home to raise a considerable amount of money for local and national charities.
